608. Chinese Porcelain Wares in Colonial North America
So far, among scholars, that the general knowlede about the popularity of Chinese porcelain ware in North American colonies was that only those wealth colonists could use the wares. However, the recent archaeological discovery shows that certain slaves owned Chinese porcelain wares. It might be a special case, for the special relations between the slaves and her master. It might be too early to make the conclusion that Chinese porcelain wares were widely used by slaves. But the findings allow us to say that Chinese porcelain wares were not strange to certain slaves. Thanks to the archaeological work, we have furhter understandings on the popularity of Chinese porcelain in the colonial north America.
